Hi, I'm Tom.
I am a proud husband to Becky, and also a loving father to my daughter Millie. We live in a town called Beverley, in East Yorkshire.
Like many of you reading this, I enjoy riding my bike and the thrill of pushing myself and others in competition. I also enjoy family time, long walks over the moors, and going out for a spot of lunch or a coffee. I’m not really a drinker (𝘢𝘭𝘤𝘰𝘩𝘰𝘭), it’s just never been part of my life particularly.
Unlike lots of coaches out there, I’m not a current pro or ex-pro cyclist. I pride myself on racing to a fairly high amateur level, and this experience really helped my coaching - But equally I was more interested in my career as a Performance Coach and starting a family than taking my sport any further than this.
I still race at a competitive level, though I put more passion into my work than being too fussed about race results as much. I get more pleasure out of my athletes results than my own now a days.
I'm a highly motivated and enthusiastic performance coach, who holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Sports Performance Conditioning. After graduating, I worked at Giant Store York as the lead Performance Specialist and Coach for 4 years.
It is here where I initially developed my skills, experience, and knowledge as a coach. I set up The Edge Coaching in June 2017, and ever since I have been pursuing my passion of making people fitter and faster.
Hello, I’m Cavan Walker, but you can call me Cav.
I am the new assistant coach at The Edge Coaching. I’m currently a final year university student at Loughborough studying Mathematics and Sport Science (BSc) and when I’m not studying, I’m racing for PB Performance or living at ‘home’ in Hunmanby, in North Yorkshire.
I derive a lot of happiness in my life from cycling, whether this is racing or social interaction with likeminded people. Outside this, I love travelling and visiting new places with the added bonus of a cafe or meal stop. Don’t offer me a coffee though I’m not much of a hot drinker. In a typical student fashion, I prefer a pint in the student pub.
Along side being a coach, I’m currently aspiring to be a professional cyclist. I love racing and use this love of racing to aid my coaching. Having raced from grass roots to UCI, I have an experience of racing all levels and apply this first-hand knowledge to my coaching. This aspiration led me to university to further my understanding of how to improve myself and, in turn, others. Through coaching voluntarily at Loughborough I’ve found that I take a great amount of pride in helping people to achieve their goals.
I’m a driven athlete and coach. After developing my knowledge at University and progressing my skills as a volunteer, I joined the edge coaching in May 2022. I am working alongside Tom with the aim of making people happier, fitter and faster. A happy and confident person is a successful one.
Hey everyone, I’m Amira.
A newly qualified coach and the newest member of The Edge Coaching team!
Since the age of 14, I have been competing on my bike at any discipline I could! In the last few seasons, I have specialised in cyclo-cross and crit racing.
I joined The Edge Coaching firstly as an athlete being coached by Tom. His dedication to coaching helped me to win the National CX series and numerous top 10’s at national Crits.
Away from cycling, I am a dog mum (to Duke, the sheepdog), baker, occasional runner and camper life lover, and I’m currently based in Leeds, where the Yorkshire Dales are my riding playground.
Alongside my cycling, I have also completed a Sport and Exercise Science degree, a ABCC coaching qualification and a L3 massage course.
Coaching is something I have always felt passionate to do, and to be able to pass on my knowledge to help other improve their performance and enjoy their time out riding!
Riding is escapism to me, I have always been a lover of training and going out everyday to be better than the day before.
I hope to pass on my enjoyment for training to others whether their aim is to improve performance or just to better themselves on the bike!
Therefore, I am really excited to be able to start my coaching journey with Tom and for his guidance to help me develop my skills further.
