Hi, I'm Tom.
I am a proud husband to Becky, and also a loving father to my daughters Millie & Matilda. We live in a town called Beverley, in East Yorkshire.
Like many of you reading this, I enjoy riding my bike and the thrill of pushing myself and others in competition. I also enjoy family time, long walks over the moors, and going out for a spot of lunch or a coffee. I’m not really a drinker (𝘢𝘭𝘤𝘰𝘩𝘰𝘭), it’s just never been part of my life particularly.
Unlike lots of coaches out there, I’m not a current pro or ex-pro cyclist. I pride myself on racing to a fairly high amateur level, and this experience really helped my coaching - But equally I was more interested in my career as a Performance Coach and starting a family than taking my sport any further than this.
I still race at a competitive level, though I put more passion into my work than being too fussed about race results as much. I get more pleasure out of my athletes results than my own now a days.
I'm a highly motivated and enthusiastic performance coach, who holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Sports Performance Conditioning. After graduating, I worked at Giant Store York as the lead Performance Specialist and Coach for 4 years.
It is here where I initially developed my skills, experience, and knowledge as a coach. I set up The Edge Coaching in June 2017, and ever since I have been pursuing my passion of making people fitter and faster.
Hey everyone, I’m Amira.
A newly qualified coach and the newest member of The Edge Coaching team!
Since the age of 14, I have been competing on my bike at any discipline I could! In the last few seasons, I have specialised in cyclo-cross and crit racing.
I joined The Edge Coaching firstly as an athlete being coached by Tom. His dedication to coaching helped me to win the National CX series and numerous top 10’s at national Crits.
Away from cycling, I am a dog mum (to Duke, the sheepdog), baker, occasional runner and camper life lover, and I’m currently based in Leeds, where the Yorkshire Dales are my riding playground.
Alongside my cycling, I have also completed a Sport and Exercise Science degree, a ABCC coaching qualification and a L3 massage course.
Coaching is something I have always felt passionate to do, and to be able to pass on my knowledge to help other improve their performance and enjoy their time out riding!
Riding is escapism to me, I have always been a lover of training and going out everyday to be better than the day before.
I hope to pass on my enjoyment for training to others whether their aim is to improve performance or just to better themselves on the bike!
Therefore, I am really excited to be able to start my coaching journey with Tom and for his guidance to help me develop my skills further.
