Hi, I'm Tom.
I am a proud husband to Becky, and also a loving father to my daughters Millie & Matilda. We live in a town called Beverley, in East Yorkshire.
Like many of you reading this, I enjoy riding my bike and the thrill of pushing myself and others in competition. I also enjoy family time, long walks over the moors, and going out for a spot of lunch or a coffee. I’m not really a drinker (𝘢𝘭𝘤𝘰𝘩𝘰𝘭), it’s just never been part of my life particularly.
Unlike lots of coaches out there, I’m not a current pro or ex-pro cyclist. I pride myself on racing to a fairly high amateur level, and this experience really helped my coaching - But equally I was more interested in my career as a Performance Coach and starting a family than taking my sport any further than this.
I still race at a competitive level, though I put more passion into my work than being too fussed about race results as much. I get more pleasure out of my athletes results than my own now a days.
I'm a highly motivated and enthusiastic performance coach, who holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Sports Performance Conditioning. After graduating, I worked at Giant Store York as the lead Performance Specialist and Coach for 4 years.
It is here where I initially developed my skills, experience, and knowledge as a coach. I set up The Edge Coaching in June 2017, and ever since I have been pursuing my passion of making people fitter and faster.
Hi everyone, I’m Amira!
After years of racing my bike around Europe, I’ve recently become a mum to a baby boy called Mackenzie. Not forgetting the other two boys in my family, husband Lewis and collie Duke! We are all based in West Yorkshire just outside of Holmfirth.
Baking, walking, house renovations and now mum life keeps our lives going at a fast pace! I’ve been with The Edge Coaching now for 3 years and over this time have built up my clients as well as experience as a coach!
I love being a coach and helping other achieve their goals, it gives me a sense of accomplishment now I’ve hung my racing wheels up (for now at least).
Cycling has always been a huge part of my life and it is where I have always felt most confident in myself! I raced at an international level since the age of 16 until 24, living the dream of travelling the world with my bike! I started coaching because I wanted to help others achieve their goals and I felt I had experience and knowledge to be about to do this! I took my coaching qualification and quickly realised this is somethings I was really passionate about.
Since then, I have really enjoyed watching my athlete achieve their goals and feel proud of themselves for achieving something they didn’t think they could!
Tom was actually my coach for my last few years racing, and together we got numerous national wins as well as some of my best World Cup finishes.
Tom gave me a refreshed look at what coaching was, after years of overtraining, he took me back to basics and I honestly had never enjoyed riding more! I really wanted to do the same for others, and show them that less is sometimes more and you can still achieve your goals around a busy lifestyle!
Hi, I’m Simone.
I live in the Dolomites, a place I love for its beauty and the endless opportunities for exploration and adventure. I am passionate about sports and movement, and I work as a cycling and Strength & Conditioning coach, helping athletes unlock their full potential.
I have spent much of my sporting career in team sports, an experience that has refined my understanding of group dynamics and multidisciplinary athletic preparation.
I am also a Physical Education teacher at a secondary school, and I strongly believe in the power of sports as an educational tool. This educational aspect is also fundamental in the coach-athlete relationship; every training session is an opportunity to learn, going beyond physical performance to encompass mental, tactical, and behavioral aspects.
I love competing, but I have chosen to focus primarily on my career as a coach, driven by a deep curiosity about performance science and a desire to pass on my knowledge to others. One of the greater experiences as a Coach was working for Wahoo Performance Science. This opportunity, working side by side with Coaches of Olympic and Paralympic levels, taught me the importance of having an evidence-based approach both while I’m working with athletes of all categories, planning their training and when I approach new topics related to sport and exercise science.
I take a methodological approach based on scientific evidence, with a strong focus on integrating on and off the bike training to develop well-rounded athletes. Strength optimization, endurance improvement, and the ability to produce maximum power at decisive moments are the pillars of my training philosophy.
Over time, I have had the opportunity to work with athletes from different levels and disciplines, helping them enhance both their physical condition and competitive mindset.
My mission is clear: not only to make athletes stronger and faster but also to guide them in developing a winning mentality and a sustainable path that allows them to express their full potential in the long run.
